Based on the 1891 German play Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind, and set in late 19th-century Germany, the musical tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality. In Spring Awakening, alternative rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score.
Focusing on issues of sex, repression, sexuality, gender identity, abuse, education, and suicide, Spring Awakening examines everything that is horrible about growing up with a stark, head-banging score, relatable characters, a sense of humour, and unflinching honesty.
Directed by Dane Shumak with Musical Direction by Justin Hiscox, this show is not to be missed as part of your 2019 Musical Theatre season!
Please note: Spring Awakening is not recommended for audiences under 14. Please contact email@example.com with any questions about the content!
